This trip gives you the opportunity to discover the monuments, theatres, temples and stadiums that made Athens famous and culturally radiant throughout the centuries.
The Panathenaic Stadium was built around the 4th century BC and it is where the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1869. Following is the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Andriano’s Gate and the Greek Parliament House, where the monument in honor of the Unknown Soldier stands, and where the famous ‘tsoliades’ stand guarding it, in their traditional uniforms in Syntagma Square. The infamous trilogy, the University, the Academy and the Athens Academy give once more a scent of the architectural lines.
On the Acropolis (at the edge of the city), a small hill in the city centre, we will visit and admire the architectural wonders of the Golden Age, the Propilea, the Erechthion with its famous caryatids, the Temple of Athena Niki and of course the Temple which “put limits to the human mind”, the Parthenon.
Last but not least, we will enjoy viewing the Statues which were brought “home”, at the new Acropolis Museum.
